5th Tokyo International Film FestivalSeptember25-October4,1992

TIFF became an annual festival beginning this year. The festival received congratulatory messages from Harrison Ford, a guest at the 1st festival, Catherine Deneuve, appearing in the film chosen for a special screening, and Gerald Depardieu, appearing in the closing film.

A new program for this festival was the Tokyo Film Market held with the cooperation of THE FOREIGN FILM IMPORTER-DISTRIBUTOR ASSOCIATION OF JAPAN, allowing TIFF to contribute to the welfare of the industry as a whole.

"White Badge" directed by Chung Ji-young won the "Tokyo Grand Prix" this year, reflecting the increasing role that films from the Republic of Korea play in world cinema. In addition, on the 30th anniversary of her death, Marilyn Monroe was remembered through an interview and photographs taken by George Barris just prior to her death.
